1. Luigi Moretti

        Bio
Luigi Moretti (1906-1973) was among the foremost architects and theoreticians of the mid-twentieth century. In a career spanning from the 1930s to his death, Moretti realized numerous works of national and international significance, including Il Girasole (Rome 1947-50), the housing block on Milan’s Corso Italia (1949-1956) and the Watergate complex in Washington, DC (1960-65). An early exponent of architectural parametricism, he was founder and editor of the journal Spazio (1950-1953) and founded the Istituto Nazionale di Ricerca Matematica e Operativa per l’Urbanistica in 1957. Formerly assistant to Gustavo Giovannoni and Vicenzo Fasolo, Moretti remained engaged with history’s lessons for contemporary architecture throughout his working life.
