Graduated from the Amsterdam Academy of Architecture in 1995. He is a partner in Wingender Hovenier Architects and in office winhov. Both companies focus on spatial research and on the design of buildings and urban ensembles for different purposes in the Netherlands and Switzerland. In addition, Hovenier teaches at various architecture schools and is a member of the Advisory Committee on Environmental Quality of the city of Haarlem.
